U.S. President Donald Trump suggested on Friday that he is displeased with the progress of talks with Iran intended to address the Islamic Republic\u2019s nuclear and ballistic-missile programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House on Friday afternoon before boarding Marine One for a trip to Texas, the president accused Iran of negotiating in bad faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re not exactly happy with the way they negotiated,\u201d Trump said. \u201cThey cannot have nuclear weapons, and we\u2019re not thrilled with the way they\u2019re negotiating.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019d be wonderful if they negotiate, really, in good conscience\u2014good faith and conscience\u2014but they are not getting there so far,\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump has ordered a massive U.S. military buildup in the Middle East during the talks with Iran, the most recent round of which concluded in Geneva on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oman\u2019s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, who is mediating the talks, said<\/a> on Thursday that Iran and the United States had made \u201csignificant progress\u201d and that the two sides had exchanged<\/a> \u201ccreative and positive ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n During his State of the Union address on Tuesday, Trump accused<\/a> Iran of continuing to pursue nuclear weapons, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said<\/a> on Thursday that Iran is seeking to develop ballistic missiles that could reach the continental United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The New York Times<\/em> and other news outlets have cast doubt<\/a> on those claims, citing a mix of publicly available reports from the U.S. intelligence community, skeptical members of Congress and anonymous administration officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
