Washington United Brethren in York, Pa., was intended as a lighthearted message for its members but soon gained viral status on social media as individuals copied the letter and pasted it on their accounts, applauding the church\u2019s family-friendly stance. Across all platforms, it has received millions of views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>A church in York Pa has issued a &#8220;Loud Kid Policy.&#8221;&nbsp;pic.twitter.com\/wohamGHsCD\u2014 Tim Carney (@TPCarney)&nbsp;February 27, 2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pennsylvania church later said it had gotten the idea from another congregation \u2013 First Baptist Union in Union, Miss. \u2013 that shared a similar&nbsp;letter&nbsp;that also went viral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pennsylvania church\u2019s letter announced what it called an official \u201cpolicy clarification\u201d regarding loud children, humorously presented as a formal church document titled \u201cNotification of Policy Change \u2013 Re: Loud Kid Policy.\u201d Written in the tone of a business memo, the letter said it was issued because the church is \u201ccommitted to transparency and accountability in all matters of church life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It then outlined what it described as the \u201coptions\u201d for families visiting the congregation if they have a loud child \u2013 though each option essentially delivered the same message. \u201cOption 1,\u201d the letter said, is that \u201cthe family should bring the kid.\u201d \u201cOption 2\u201d instructs families to \u201cmake sure they bring the kid,\u201d while \u201cOption 3\u201d says parents are to \u201csee that the child is brought to church.\u201d Finally, \u201cOption 4\u201d emphasizes the point clearly: \u201cThe kid is absolutely welcome and expected.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter concluded by explaining the heart behind the playful policy, saying the sounds of children during worship should not be viewed as interruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe believe the sound of children in worship is not a distraction,\u201d it said. \u201cIt is evidence of life, growth, and the future of the church. If your child makes noise, you are not bothering us. You are blessing us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final line in the letter reinforced the tongue-in-cheek tone: \u201cPolicy enacted. No exceptions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter received plenty of applause on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI love this!
