{"id":11815,"date":"2026-04-06T17:41:05","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T05:41:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cvnznews.com\/?p=11815"},"modified":"2026-04-06T17:41:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T05:41:05","slug":"there-is-no-revival-of-christianity-in-britain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cvnznews.com\/?p=11815","title":{"rendered":"There is no revival of Christianity in Britain"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>OPINION: <strong>Andrew Copson<\/strong><br><em>Chief executive, Humanists UK<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The retraction of the Bible Society\u2019s report on Gen Z church attendance (YouGov withdraws survey said to show rising church attendance in England and Wales, 26 March) is a welcome moment of clarity, but the \u201cfraudulent\u201d data identified by YouGov only tells half the story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report\u2019s central premise, that young people are flocking back to the pews, was always an outlier when measured against the gold-standard British Social Attitudes (BSA) survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our new analysis of the BSA data&nbsp;shows that six in 10 people aged 16 to 34 identify with no religion. Furthermore, this is not a&nbsp;\u201cphase\u201d of youthful rebellion; 94% of those raised without religion remain non-religious as adults. For this generation, the search for meaning is not found in&nbsp;dogma, but in the humanist values of reason, kindness and personal responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Church of England\u2019s identity falls to just one in 10 of the general population, the disconnect between our national institutions and the British public has never been wider.
