One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has confirmed she \u201chad no concerns whatsoever\u201d about the employment of her national campaign director, in a statement issued shortly after sacking him for the thing she had no concerns about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A party spokesperson said the vetting process for senior One Nation staff remained \u201crobust\u201d, consisting of one phone call, a vibe check and a final sign-off from whoever happened to be in the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have an extensive screening procedure\u201d the spokesperson explained. \u201cStep one, we ask if they\u2019re loyal. Step two, there is no step two.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senator Hanson told Sky News the scrutiny of her campaign director was the result of \u201cgutter politics\u201d, a phrase she used three times before remembering she was the one who had to sack him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The party reportedly only became aware of the conviction after a series of journalists, two former candidates, court documents, the original ABC report, the rehiring memo and possibly a brief glance at a search engine alerted them to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A senior One Nation insider said the party\u2019s Human Resources strategy was best described as \u201cfind out on the news with everyone else\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two former candidates have now spoken out, which the party described as \u201cinternal disloyalty\u201d and \u201cexactly the kind of accountability we campaign against\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
