The ceremony will take place in front of a large delegation of Indian and New Zealand business leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McClay says the agreement represents \u201conce\u2011in\u2011a\u2011generation\u201d access to a market of <strong>1.4 billion people<\/strong> and an economy projected to become the world\u2019s third largest. He argues the FTA is vital amid global instability and will allow New Zealand to begin the parliamentary treaty\u2011examination process, enabling full public scrutiny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister highlighted the <strong>Most Favoured Nation (MFN)<\/strong> clause, noting that if New Zealand\u2019s agreement enters into force before the EU\u2019s, exporters will automatically gain the same improved access for wine and services that the EU has secured \u2014 benefits worth \u201ctens of millions\u201d to the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FTA eliminates or reduces tariffs on <strong>95% of New Zealand exports<\/strong>, with <strong>57% duty\u2011free on day one<\/strong>, rising to <strong>82%<\/strong> once fully implemented. He said Labour is still waiting for full, unredacted official advice before deciding whether to support the legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional reporting from <em>The Post<\/em> notes Labour remains in a stalemate with National over what constitutes adequate official advice, with Hipkins saying the Government has not yet answered \u201cseveral significant issues\u201d Labour has raised. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Next Steps<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once signed, the FTA text and National Interest Analysis will be tabled in Parliament and referred to the <strong>Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee<\/strong>.
