A total of 258 bodies have been recovered from various locations following Wednesday’s devastating flash flood in the Bhotekoshi River, with search and rescue operations continuing across several districts.

A total of 13,295 security personnel have been mobilised for search, rescue and relief operations. The deployment includes 7,250 personnel from the Nepal Police, Nepali Army and Armed Police Force, according to the authority. [The figures provided in the source-725 Nepal Police, 4,200 Nepali Army and 1,845 APF-add up to 6,770, so the total deployment figure requires verification.]

Helicopters carried out 69 flights on Wednesday, rescuing 351 people from affected areas.

However, 910 people remain unaccounted for, including 28 Nepal Police personnel, 44 Nepali Army personnel, 13 Armed Police Force personnel, 15 Customs Office employees, four Immigration Office employees, 161 people from Rasuwa and one from Nuwakot.

The missing also include 517 foreign nationals and 127 Nepali citizens residing abroad who were visiting Nepal when the disaster struck.
